PASTORAL MESSAGE

October 2016

Hello everyone,

I wanted to write everyone with some upcoming announcements you may not have seen. We have another Sunday School session on Sunday, October 16, sandwich making for Calgary's homeless on Saturday, October 15 at 12pm and Bible Study on Wednesday, October 19 at 6pm in the Church. I'm so happy that these programs have been of interest to you all and your families and I appreciate your support.

In a short amount of time we have been able to do so much good as a Church and I'm excited to see how much more we can do together in the future. So far we have fed 6000 people at the Drop In Center, made thousands of sandwiches for Calgary's needy, and collected 5500 pairs of socks for Calgary's homeless to stay warm this winter. We have also continued our philanthropic works within the Philoptochos organization that is happily accepting new members to be part of their good works. All who attend my liturgies know how passionate my family and I are about charity and I am proud to see a congregation so like minded.

In addition to our good works in the community I think we have had a lot of fun as well. Our GOYA group has been able to learn about their important role as young Christians in the community but have also had a lot of fun too! Our Sunday School has impressed me and I'm happy to see so many parents bring their children when they can. Our English Liturgies have been well received and I know many come to church just for that special service. I was so humbled to see the larger than expected groups we have had come to our Adult Religious Education Classes (Bible Study) and thank you all for your support. I'm excited to resume this initiative on October 19 as we discuss misconceptions about the woman's role in the Church. If you haven't attended these programs and would like more information do let me know and everyone is welcome!

Something I am most excited about is our Church's upcoming trip to Jerusalem. I invite all of you to be a part of this amazing opportunity. Details on the trip will be posted on our Facebook page and Community Website.

I believe we have done so much good but with everything there is always room for improvement. My door is always open for everyone and if I can do anything to improve our programs or if you have recommendations for new ones please do let me know. I am here to serve and work with all of you and want to make our Church a place that welcomes everyone. I know how busy everyone is in their personal lives, if there is anything I can do to make the church a more welcoming place please let me know. I know our hard working council feels the same way. We are all looking to improve and make the community a welcoming place for all members and potential new members. Your feedback is needed and encouraged for us to continue to succeed!

Thank you for your time and God Bless you all.
